The Russian Far East, known as the "northern jungle", is one of the world's most interesting natural regions. It is famous for the unique mixture of species typical to the northern taiga and southern subtropics, which reside in the same neighborhood.

The region possesses the highest flora and fauna diversity in Russia, as well as a great number of endemic and rare species. It is the primary habitat for the Amur Tiger, Far Eastern Leopard, Himalayan Black Bear, Amur Goral, Blakiston's Fish Owl, Red-crowned, White-napped and Hooded Cranes, Scaly Merganser, etc...

PROGRAM

Day 1
Arrival in Moscow. Bus transfer to downtown. Accommodation in Hotel ***. Welcome dinner.

Day 2
Breakfast at the hotel followed by a tour of the capital including the historic Red Square and the Kremlin and its cathedrals. Lunch at the restaurant. In late afternoon, visitors will fly overnight to Vladivostok (9h flight).

Day 3
Sightseeing in Vladivostok. The day will be spent visiting this historic center-the headquarters of the Russian Pacific Fleet. Lunch and dinner in city restaurants and night at hotel ***.

Day 4
After breakfast, trip by ship to Popov Island (1,5 hr). Visit of the Museum of Marine Nature. Travel by Ship to an archipelago of islands in the Gulf of Peter the Great. A marine biologist will dive down into the gulf and will bring to the surface a number of sea creatures. We will swim and sunbathe, even diving is possible. Visit of the Khasan Nature Park that provides excellent bird watching opportunities. Return to Popov Island and overnight in cottages.

Day 5
Leisure time to explore the natural environs, swim and rest. A tour of the 4000-year-old archaeological site will be organized. Dinner and overnight stay in the cottages.

Day 6
In the early morning, 3 hours of bus to Kedrovaya Pad Nature Reserve. It was conceived as a "botanical reserve". It is the only known area in Russia, which harbors breeding population of the rare Far Eastern Snow Leopard. 6.5 km hike along the Kedrovaya River. Evening will be spent with one of Russia's finest nature photographers, who will provide a video presentation on the Far Eastern Leopard. Overnight in the wooden house of the nature reserve or in the neighbor village.

Day 7
An excursion to the Leopard site (half of a day). Then move by bus to Vladivostok and have dinner at the restaurant. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 8
Travel to Lazo village. Dinner at a local cafe followed by an excursion to the Museum of Nature and Ecological Education Center of the Lazovsky Nature Reserve. In addition to Amur tigers, the region hosts a number of other rare species such as the Himalayan Black Bear. Travel 30 km by car to the "American Gorge." Accomodation in huts and tents. The camp features a summer kitchen and a "banya".

Day 9
The entire day will be devoted to hiking and exploring the "American Gorge". Dinner and overnight in the meadow camp.

Day 10
Hiking in the Karpad Gorge. The hike will feature crossing a chain of low hills. Picnic will be organized en route. Dinner and overnight stay at the Karpad camp: a big wooden house. Additionally, accommodation in tents will be organized.

Day 11
Travel by car to the Elamovskie sprinngs (75 km). 8 km hike to unforgettable waterfalls, the Benevskiye Waterfalls. In the afternoon, the group will hike downstream and will then travel 50 km by car to the seashore. Stop at one of the oldest local villages. Accomodation in Petrova camp in the Nature Reserve. Dinner in the summer kitchen. Banya. Night in the big wooden house and in tents.

Tigre Amur

Day 12
The expedition will travel by boat to Petrova Island, a natural botanical garden. Exploration of the island, bird watching. Participants will be able to swim in the clean waters of the Sea of Japan (Pacific Ocean) and rest on the island's golden sand. Return to the camp. Dinner and rest.

Day 13
Return to Vladivostok. Farewell dinner at the restaurant and overnight stay in hotel ***.

Day 14
Return flight to Moscow. Overnight stay in hotel ***.

Day 15
Breakfast and departure to airport for the flight home.
