Lake Baikal
Trekking, rafting & trip to Olkhon island

This tour combines rugged terrain trekking along the shore of Baikal , white water rafting down a Siberian river and visiting the biggest and outstanding beautiful Olkhon island. Trekking part takes 3 days and covers 60 km. Rafting is 4 days and about 95 km distance. Picturesque river gorge, fast and unexpected rapids, the virgin taiga-forest are the features of this part of tour. Relaxing trip to Olkhon in the end of the tour gives a perfect chance to feel the magnificent beauty of the Baikal, see the life style of native Buryat people and admire the famous Olkhon sunsets.

During the trek, you are going to share outfit and food with the guide and carry the backpacks of about 12-14 kg .

PROGRAM

Day 1
Arrival to Irkutsk , Transfer to hotel Irkutsk / homestay. Walking city tour of Irkutsk 3 hours, guided, visit to museum of history, free time.

Breakfast. In the morning by 4 WD van via Irkutsk to Bolshoe Goloustnoe settlement at the shore of Baikal (120 km from Irkutsk ). Start hiking northward along the shore, 17 km. Overnight in tents at Kadilniy Kape, full board, guided.

Day 3
Hiking to the settlement of Bolshie Koty, 20 km. Overnight in Bolshie Koty, full board, guided.

Day 4
Hiking or hydrofoil to Listvyaka village, 22 km. Accommodation in chalet (Baikal, Briz, Nataly) or Baikal Hotel. Evening traditional Russian sauna 1 hour.

Day 5
Breakfast. Full day guided excursion in Listvyanka. Visit to museum of lake Baikal, walking up to viewpoint. Accommodation in chalet (Baikal, Briz, Nataly) or Baikal Hotel.

Day 6
Breakfast. By jeep to the south extremity of Baikal, visiting viewpoint over the lake’s edge and Khamar-Daban mountains. In the afternoon arrival to Anchuk settlement in Tunka valley (130km from Irkutsk ) Pumping rafts and catamarans, start of rafting at Irkut river (grade II). Overnight in tents at the bank of Irkut, all meals, guide.

Day 7
Rafting down Irkut. Overnight in tents at the bank of Irkut, all meals, guide.

Rafting down Irkut. Overnight in tents at the bank of Irkut, all meals, guide.

Day 9
Rafting to Shamanka village (50 km from Irkutsk ). By car to Irkutsk . Accommodation in Irkutsk HTL / homestay.

Day 10
Breakfast. In the morning by public bus to Olkhon island 300 km from Irkutsk. Accommodation in wooden hostel in Khuzhir settlement, 2 Nts, full board, no guide. coucher de soleil au Baikal

Day 11-12
Self organized activities at Olkhon Island . There are several different excursions available at the island, for example jeeping to the north most cape Khoboy , biking, trekking ect To be paid on spot to the hostel administration.

Day 13
By public bus to Irkutsk . Accommodation in Irkutsk HTL / homestay.

Day 14
Breakfast. Transfer to Station / airport. Departure from Irkutsk.
