In 1996, The UNESCO had declared Lake Baikal as the World Heritage Site.
Baikal is a legendary place famous for its breathtaking views, ancient traditions and sacred rituals of shamanism. Local communities stick to traditional way of life and practice Buddhism as well as shamanism.

During the tour, we will visit a network of finest nature protected areas around Lake Baikal. This tour will give you a unique opportunity to experience the most beautiful areas of primordial nature in the Baikal region, as well as local culture and traditions.

PROGRAM

Day 1 (not included)
Arrive in Moscow. transfers to Hotel***. Dinner at the restaurant. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2 (not included)
Breakfast at the hotel. Sightseeing tour of Moscow, including visit to the Red Square, the Kremlin and its cathedrals. Lunch at the restaurant in downtown. transfers to the airport, take an evening flight to Irkutsk (about 5-hrs flight).
*Note: depending on your wishes, you can take a Transsiberian train from Moscow to Irkutsk instead of the flight. In this case, the duration of your tour will be two days more.

Arrive in Irkutsk. Lunch at the restaurant (not included in the package price). Bus transfers to the village of Khuzhir in Olkhon island (5-6 hrs) - the largest island of the ../images/aventures/s102b_map.htm" target="_blank" onclick="openWin(this.href,this.target); return false;">Pribaikal'sky National Park and the sacred shamans' place. Accommodation in the private hotels with local families (cosy wooden houses in traditional style, delicious home made cuisine, facilities outside).

Day 4
Excursions in Khuzhir. Visit the museum of local lore and the Shaman Cape. Enjoy majestic rocks and wonderful beaches. Overnight, as per last day.

The territory of Olkhon has no equal in abundance of archaeological monuments: there are 143 objects like ancient cities, remanants of stony walls, stony "galleries" of petrogliphs created 2,5 thousand years ago. Vegetation of the Olkhon island is very special. Steppe landscapes of the island are unique in its beauty: low rocky ranges, small salty lakes, soddy steppes are scenic wonders mysteriously alike the prehistoric nature of Central Asia.

Day 5
transfers to the Uzur valley. Make a stop on the way for a 2-3-hrs walk in the picturesque Peschanaya ("Sandy") bay. Overnight accommodation in the tented camp near the Baikal shore.

Day 6
Trekking to the Cape Hoboi (12 km one direction and the same back). The trail is going along whimsical rocky bays. This is the northernmost section of Olkhon island from where a breathtaking view opens to both shores of Lake Baikal. Overnight in Uzur, as per last day.

Day 7
In the morning, take a motor boat Yaroslavet to the Baikalo-Lensky Nature Reserve. Overnight in the tented camp.
The Baikalo-Lensky nature reserve was found in 1986 on the western shore of the lake Baikal, opposite the Bargusinsky Nature Reserve. The nature reserve stretches along the Lake Baikal bank for 100 km. This nature reserve is often called "the coast of brown bears".

Day 8
In the Baikalo-Lensky Nature Reserve. Trek 12 km along the picturesque trail to the Pokoinitsky mountain pass (1500 m above the sea level) to the direction of the river Lena. Overnight in the tented camp.

Day 9
transfers by Yaroslavets across the Lake Baikal to the Barguzinsky nature reserve. Hike along the Baikal shore to the mouth of the river Shumilikha. Overnight in the tented camp and (up to 6 people) in the small wooden house of the Nature Reserve (rustic facilities).

Day 10
In the Barguzinsky Nature Reserve. Trek on the ecological trail along the river Shumilikha to a picturesque mountain lake - this route is one of the most beautiful in Baikal. During one day only, you will have an opportunity to see all nature zones present in this aera. Overnight, as per last day .

Day 12
transfers by boats Yaroslavets to the ../images/aventures/s102a_map.htm" target="_blank" onclick="openWin(this.href,this.target); return false;">Zabaikal'sky National Park. Visit on the way the famous Ushkanii Islands with the biggest rookery of endemic Baikal seal. Overnight in tented camp in the Zabaikal'sky National Park.

Writers and poets call Zabaikalsky National Park "The Pearl of Pearls in the Baikal Crown". Snow white peaks, turbulent streams and rivers, mountain tundras and lakes, and marble rocks - all these is the Zabaikalsky National Park. The banks are picturesque, the coves and bays - numerous, the beaches sandy and scenic, with thermal springs.

Day 13
Excursions in the Zabaikal'sky National Park. Rest on wonderful sandy beach. Car transfers to the village of Ust'-Barguzin. Dinner and overnight in private hotels with local families will give you a wonderful opportunity to learn about local traditions. The private hotels are spacious wooden houses, facilities inside.

Day 14
Bus transfers (5-6 hrs) to Ulan-Ude. Excursion to the Buddhist temple of Ivolginsky Datsan and the Museum of History of Buryatia. Short sightseeing tour of the city. Take a night train to Irkutsk.

Day 15
Arrive in Irkutsk early in the morning. Bus transfers (68 km) to the village of Listvianka located on the Baikal shore. An excursion to the Baikal museum where you will learn about the history of the lake studies, its geology, plant and animal life. Leisure evening, shopping. Overnight at the hotel (facilities inside).

Day 16
transfers to the airport early in the morning. Departure to Moscow. Arrive in Moscow, transfers to the international airport for the flight home.
